Wild West Walls: Transforming the BIRD District Through Public Art
Wild West Walls is Billings’ first mural festival, launched in September 2024 through a collaboration between BIRD and Underground Culture Krew. Over 70 talented artists applied to be part of this transformative event, resulting in 17 vibrant murals that redefined the district. With over 3,000 cans of spray paint and 50 gallons of traditional paint, the festival was a celebration of color, creativity, and collaboration. Since then, even more murals have been added, further enhancing the area’s visual appeal and cultural vibrancy.

More than just paint on walls, Wild West Walls created unforgettable memories and lasting connections. It brought together businesses, residents, and artists to celebrate the power of public art. The festival has become a symbol of community pride, drawing visitors to the district and turning it into a destination that inspires, unites, and showcases the transformative impact of creativity.

The impact of Wild West Walls extended far beyond the initial event. Since the festival, additional murals and art pieces have been added, inspired by the energy and excitement it generated. The district has become a living canvas, continuously evolving and reflecting the community’s commitment to art and innovation.
